He emphasized the importance of the Polish countryside in sustaining national sovereignty through a reliable food supply. Nawrocki stressed that the government must stand by farmers during environmental challenges such as drought and frost, ensuring they are not left to face these issues alone.
Nawrocki portrayed Polish farmers as stewards of the nation’s cultural heritage, acknowledging rural communities, farmers’ organizations, volunteer fire brigades, and local authorities for their efforts in preserving Polish traditions, religious values, and folk culture. He expressed concern over potential threats to Polish agricultural land and reiterated his commitment to keeping Polish land under domestic ownership. He highlighted a legislative initiative designed to extend restrictions on the sale of agricultural land to foreign entities, advocating for measures that protect the productivity of rural areas.
The president voiced his opposition to the European Union’s Mercosur agreement, citing potential adverse effects on Polish farmers and agricultural output. He also critiqued the EU Green Deal, urging for more attention to be paid to the concerns of Poland’s rural population. Nawrocki emphasized his commitment to amplifying farmers’ voices by proposing referendums on climate policy and the Green Deal, although he expressed disappointment over the rejection of these proposals by senators, whom he urged to pay closer attention to the needs of farming communities.
Nawrocki concluded his address by pledging ongoing support for rural Poland.
