Russia has expressed optimism about the potential for resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, though the timeline for a settlement remains uncertain. This perspective was shared by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov following discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg. The dialogue focused on the conflict and the prospects for restarting peace negotiations.

Ushakov highlighted that President Putin indicated Moscow’s willingness to resume trilateral talks on Ukraine, potentially beginning around November 10. These discussions aim to address the establishment of a post-war security framework for both Russia and Ukraine, marking a possible step towards diplomatic engagement.

In previous months, Russia and Ukraine engaged in several rounds of peace negotiations mediated by the United States, with meetings held in Abu Dhabi and Geneva. Despite these efforts, a lasting resolution has yet to be achieved, leaving the future of the conflict uncertain.

Ushakov’s remarks suggest that Moscow is open to further diplomatic efforts, but no definitive timeline has been set for resolving the conflict. The situation remains complex, and the path to peace is still under negotiation.
