Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, responding to an invitation from Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. The visit aims to bolster the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, education, science, culture, and political relations.
Việt Nam and Poland formalized their diplomatic relationship on February 4, 1950, and are on the verge of celebrating the 75th anniversary of their partnership in 2025. This relationship has been characterized by diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, and exchanges in education and culture.
The upcoming visit by Prime Minister Tusk comes on the heels of former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính’s trip to Poland in January 2025. During that visit, both countries expressed a commitment to elevating their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Economic collaboration remains a cornerstone of the Việt Nam-Poland relationship, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, marking a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam’s exports to Poland primarily include electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products, while Poland exports machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Tusk’s visit to Việt Nam is anticipated to explore further economic opportunities and reinforce cooperation across key sectors. Both nations are keen on fostering closer commercial ties and expanding collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges.
This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen their longstanding relationship and advance their shared economic and diplomatic interests, reflecting a mutual desire to work closely on various fronts.
