Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed gratitude to the United States for restoring the Starlink and Starshield satellite internet services, which are crucial for Ukraine’s defense logistics. In a recent video address, Zelensky highlighted the importance of these services in maintaining communication and coordination, particularly in the face of Russian drone attacks.
Despite this progress, Zelensky reiterated the urgency of receiving air defense missiles from the United States and European allies. He emphasized that ammunition for the Patriot missile systems is essential to safeguard Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from ongoing Russian ballistic missile threats. The Ukrainian leader urged timely delivery of these defense systems in line with previous international commitments.
Beyond military needs, Zelensky also addressed humanitarian concerns, focusing on the town of Oleshky in the Russian-controlled Kherson region. He expressed hope for a US-mediated ceasefire to facilitate a humanitarian operation in the area. The proposed plan aims to establish a safe corridor for delivering food and medical supplies to civilians and allowing people to evacuate the conflict zone. However, the situation remains precarious due to mined roads, complicating relief efforts.
Zelensky underscored Ukraine’s readiness to cooperate in the mine-clearing operations necessary for the humanitarian mission, expressing optimism that US mediation could help make this initiative possible. The Ukrainian president’s address reflects ongoing diplomatic and military challenges as Ukraine continues to seek international support to counter Russian aggression.
