Amid ongoing global security challenges, Poland is striving to solidify its defense ties with the United States. Polish President Karol Nawrocki, speaking during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent U.S. military presence in Poland. This development forms a central part of his discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Nawrocki underscored the strategic value of enhanced military and economic cooperation between Poland and the U.S., highlighting ongoing talks with American defense companies to expedite potential contracts and investment projects. The Polish president expressed that Trump has shown support for increasing the long-term U.S. military engagement in Poland. Discussions are also set to continue between Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth to explore this possibility further.
Security collaboration isn’t the only focus of Nawrocki’s diplomatic efforts. Poland is also aiming to secure a permanent position within the G20. The Polish leader revealed plans to engage in dialogue with other governments, including the African Union, as part of Poland’s strategy to build international support for its G20 ambitions.
